All 42 of the ballot boxes in the Carrick-on-Suir Local Electoral Area are now tallied and the results indicate that Ballingarry Fianna Fáil Cllr Imelda Goldsboro will repeat her 2019 poll topping performance with first-time Labour candidate Michael 'Chicken' Brennan on course to take a seat.

According to the tally conducted at the Tipperary Count Centre at Presentation Secondary School in Thurles, Cllr Goldsboro has polled a first preference vote of 1,816 or 21.2% of the vote.

Carrick-on-Suir Sinn Fein Cllr David Dunne is also set to repeat his 2019 performance by once again becoming the second councillor elected in the five-seater Carrick LEA. The final tally result shows his first preference vote to be 1,564 or 18.2% of the vote.

Labour candidate Michael 'Chicken' Brennan, a native of Killenaule who lives near Fethard, has polled very strongly with the tally result showing him in third place with a first preference vote of 1,413, which translates to 16.5% of the poll. Such a strong first preference vote indicates he will take a council seat

Cloneen Fine Gael Cllr Mark Fitzgerald has polled the fourth highest first preference vote of 1,275 or 14.9% of the poll according to the final tally and is closely followed by Carrick-on-Suir's Cllr Kieran Bourke, who appears to have significantly increased his first preference vote from 2019.

The tally figures indicate the battle for the fourth and fifth seats will be between Cllr Fitzgerald, Cllr Kieran Bourke and Independent Kevin O'Meara from Mullinahone.

Cllr Kevin O'Meara appears to be the most in danger of losing his seat at this stage. The tally shows his first preference vote to be 975 or 11.4% to the poll though transfers will play a big role in who secures the final two seats.

The Irish Freedom Party candidate Martin Murphy looks certain to be the first candidate eliminated with the tally indicating he received a first preference vote of 290, which translates to 3.4% of the vote.
