BREAKING: First two candidates elected in Carrick-on-Suir LEA race

Goldsboro and Dunne are elected on the first count result

Ballingarry's FF Cllr Imelda Goldsboro tops the poll in Carrick-on-Suir LEA

FF Cllr Imelda Goldsboro from Ballingarry and Cllr David Dunne (SF) from Carrick-on-Suir were elected on the first count in the Carrick-on-Suir LEA race

The first count in the Carrick-on-Suir LEA election was announced at 11.30pm with Ballingarry Fianna Fáil Cllr Imelda Goldsboro topping the poll in the Carrick-on-Suir Local Electoral area polling with a massive first preference vote of 1,898 votes. She also topped the poll in the 2019 election. 

Also elected on the first count was Carrick-on-Suir Sinn Féin councillor David Dunne, who polled 1,759 first preferences. 

The second count will involved the distribution of Cllr Goldsboro's surplus votes and will start at 10am tomorrow (Sunday).  

The first count result in the Carrick-on-Suir LEA election was as follows:

Total Electorate: 16,763

Invalid Ballot Papers: 57

Valid Poll: 9,047

Quota: 1,508

Number of Seats:  5

Bourke Kieran (FF)  1,334

Brennan Michael 'Chicken'  1,486

Dunne David (SF)  1,759  (elected)

Fitzgerald Mark (FG) 1,239

Goldsboro Imelda (FF) 1,898  (elected) 

Murphy Martin (IFP)   299

O'Meara Kevin (Ind) 1,032

Total: 9,047
