Hanley point puts Tipperary through to league semi-final against Armagh

Tipperary took on Leitrim on Sunday last at Clara, County Offaly in a winner takes all playoff for the last remaining place in the Tesco Homegrown National Ladies Football League Division 3 Semi-Final.

On the day the conditions were going to be a big factor in the game with a very strong wind blowing straight down the field.

Leitrim had the wind in the first half and took full of advantage of it in the first fifteen minutes scoring 1-4 to Tipperary’s two points. Tipperary kept the pressure on and scored another three points to get the half time score to Tipperary 0-5 Leitrim 1-4.

The second half was a tenser affair as Tipperary wasted no time in getting back on level terms with two quick points.

By the end of the third quarter, Tipperary had hit the front and led by 0-11 to 1-6. In the 46th minute Leitrim scored their second goal to regain the lead. As the game entered the last five minutes of normal time, Jen Grant scored a crucial goal to put Tipperary in front again. Leitrim kept attacking and were rewarded in the fourth minute of injury time with another goal to equalize. There was still time for a winner for either side and it was Tipperary who earned a free which was scored by Edel Hanley which turned out to be the winner. Tipperary 1-13 Leitrim 3-6

Tipperary will now play Armagh in the Semi Final of the Tesco Homegrown NFL on 28th April at a venue to be confirmed.

County Under14 Team

Our Under 14 Ladies Football team have had a number of practice games recently and would like to thank Edmund Burke, Moyle Rovers and Michael Touhy, Templemore for their assistance in arranging the games. Thanks to Pat O’Connor for the use of the training facilities in Monroe. The girls are working very hard in preparation for the Munster Championship final in early May. The management are asking that all clubs please keep in mind that our training sessions are fixed for Wednesday nights and Saturdays each week and where possible, allow all panel members to attend.

Post Primary School Ladies Football Blitz

Tipperary Ladies Gaelic Football are organising a Post Primary School Ladies Football Blitz for pupils who were Under 14 on July 1st 2012, i.e. Born on or after July 1st 1998. The Blitz will be held in Rockwell College, Cashel on Wednesday May 15th. The entry form for this blitz is available on www.tipperaryladiesfootball.ie and the completed entry form needs to be returned by email as soon as possible to tipplfsecretary@hotmail.com.

Communications Workshop

Tipperary Ladies Gaelic Football County Board held a Communications Workshop in Cashel last Monday. PR & Marketing Manager, Derek Kinnevey and Mary Beades, Munster Development Officer hosted the Workshop. The workshop was well attended and all methods of communications and their uses were discussed. We all look forward to better communications within the County.

FUNdamentals Course

A FUNdamentals coaching course was held in Templemore on Saturday last. This was well attended on a damp day. All participants had a great time and look forward to implementing the coaching techniques with their clubs.
