Thurles Sarsfields win Tipperary senior hurling title
Thurles Sarsfields regained the Dan Breen Cup when beating holders Drom-Inch in the Tipperary county senior hurling final at Semple Stadium on Sunday.
In a pulsating contest, Sarsfields had three points to spare in the end, 1-21 to 2-15.
It was heartbreak for Drom-Inch in the all-Mid final as they relinquished the crown won for the for the first time twelve months ago.
However they deserve tremendous credit for a stirring second half performance when it looked at times as if they could go on to win.
Sarsfields were dominant in the early stages and led at the break 1-11 to 0-7, the goal coming on the stroke of half time from Aidan McCormack.
The champions needed a good start to the second half and they got it with an early goal from David Butler.
They continued to press forward and a Seamus Callanan goal on 48 minutes made it a real contest.
However Sarsfields showed real battling qualities in the high tempo contest and finished stronger to regain the title last won in 2010 and claim their 32nd crown.
