St. Mary’s Hurling Club

The Intermediates played their second round match of the group stages of the County Championship last Friday evening in The GAA Centre, against Moyne/Templetuohy. Despite our best efforts the visitors ran out winners by four points. Nevertheless, we put in a solid performance against strong opposition and were in the game right to the end.

Under 12s

The lads had a great day out on Sunday last as they went to see the National League Final in Kilkenny. On the way they stopped off at Callan to play a challenge match against the local team. Thanks to all mentors and parents who helped on the day.

Under 10s

Our U/10’s started their summer hurling in fine style last week. 31 boys travelled to Dr Morris Park in Thurles last Saturday and played their first county blitz. Spread over three strong teams the boys overcame Durlas Og and Loughmore among others.

This is a great start to the season with the boys showing they can rise to any challenge. Thanks to all the parents and drivers on the day.

On Friday next 10th May at 7pm we will field an U/10.5 team (Ten and a Half) in the Community Games. This will be 15 a side game with a squad of twenty players .With home advantage for our first match in this knockout competition all support for the boys would be appreciated.

The club also offers its condolences to the family of the late Michael Kelly of Tivoli, Clonmel. Michael was a vice-president of the club back in the 1980s, and our prayers and sympathy go to his four sons, Jim, Paul, Michael and Joe, most of whom played for the club at some stage, and their families.

May he Rest in Peace.

Our sympathy is also extended to the family of the late Peggy Doyle, Pearse Park. Her son Dessie played hurling for St. Mary’s at one time.

May she Rest in Peace.
