Moyle Rovers are County Under 14 ‘A’ champions after a comprehensive win over Lattin Cullen last Thursday evening in New Inn.

Moyle Rovers began with great intent and after a few attacks Kristy Crotty-Ryan had the ball in the net for the opening score. The same player then had a point from a free.

Our backs closed out some Lattin attacks and then following good work by Cora Maher, Rachael Browne scored a well taken goal.

Moyle Rovers continued to dominate the game and at half-time the score was 4-6 to 0-2. Moyle Rovers ran out convincing winners 7-9 to 1-6.

Claire Moore was excellent in goal with top class saves in both halves. Our inside backs of Sarah Garret, Sarah O’Dwyer and Amy Norris dealt comfortably with the Lattin attack. On the half back line. Rosin Breen, Chloe Boland and Jenny Everard were first to the ball and set up plenty of attacks which yielded scores.

At centre-field Cora Maher and Orla Burke won the key battleground and were well supported by Emma Cronin who played as a very effective extra midfielder. They supplied plenty of ball to our hard working forwards. On the half forward line Rowena Dowling, Rachael Timlin (0-1) and Aine Fitzgerald (0-1) worked tirelessly and unselfishly to place the ball to the best scoring positioned player. Kristy Crotty-Ryan (2-6) scored some wonderful points and Rachael Browne (5-1) with five goals was in top scoring form.

Emma Moore Kelly, Amy Mulcahy, Kellie Ryan, Aoife McEntaggart and Emma Tobin all made valuable contributions when called into play.

Remaining panel members were Lily Finch, Louise Norris, Cathy O’Dwyer, Simone Heneghan, Amy Broderick.

Unavoidably absent were Lizzie Ryan, Robyn Boland and Orla Croke.

The next big action for these talented girls is the All Ireland Feile competition and based on their performance they can travel to Derry with high hopes. The draw for the Feile fundraising tickets takes place this Saturday night in the Halfway House. There are still some tickets available.
