St. Mary’s Hurling Club
Last Saturday we held our AGM. The officers for the next year are Noel Buckley, Chairman; Ger Deely, Vice Chairman; Sean O’Sullivan, Secretary; and Ger Quigley, Treasurer. Other officers include Assistant Treasurer, John O’Connor, Registrar; John Kelly and PRO Seamus Moore. The officers and members at the AGM paid tribute to the work John Kelly had done as secretary over the last four years. He was complimented for his courtesy, efficiency and communication skills which he used so well to serve St Mary’s. Chairman, Noel Buckley said he was blessed to have had such an efficient Secretary and complimented John for the heavy work load he carried and the positive approach he had to all the challenges that he faced in his time as Secretary. He was delighted he was staying on as Registrar.
The AGM reviewed the year which again saw St Mary’s achieve success at U/ 14, 16 and Minor. The Chairman in his address thanked all team mentors and players who have worked with teams in the past year. The positives are “we are now achieving success and growing as a club. With success and growth come challenges and a larger club needs more people to help out and in particular in the area of administration”. He appealed for club members and parents to respond to this call if they want St Mary’s to continue to grow and succeed. Our goal over the next three years must be, he said, “to have success at county level. County medals in hurling are hard earned and demands from players a huge commitment if they want to achieve that goal”.
There will be a meeting of the officers and committee in the new year where they will draw up plans for the year ahead.
