Seamus is Captain Fantastic

St. Mary’s Hurling Club

St. Mary’s Hurling Club

Heartiest congratulations are extended to one of our star performers on the hurling field, Seamus Kennedy, who has recently been appointed Captain of the Tipperary Under 21 Football Team for the upcoming campaign.

Given the leadership he so often demonstrates for the club on the hurling field, it’s good to see such qualities recognised at County level. Well Done, Seamus.

Best Wishes

Our very best good wishes are extended to Frank Maher who is ill in South Tipperary General Hospital. Hopefully he will be back doing his work for our club soon.

Our sympathy is extended to the King Family on the death of Gerry who died in California. Gerry played minor for St. Mary’s in 1954, 1955 and 1956.
He was also a member of the St. Mary’s Junior team that played against St. Luke’s (a replay) in 1957. St. Luke’s were the winners in a tempestuous game so much so that ‘The Nationalist” published a headline in the following week’s edition - “The Saints Were No Angels.”
Gerry played minor football for the Commercials Club and was a member of the Tipperary Minor Football Team that beat Kerry in the Munster Final in Thurles in 1955.
