Regrets to our senior panel who have given so much to their club and county. Championship games were fixed for Friday evenings at 6.30pm, all away games as far as Burgess Deharra, (Kilcolman). There was only one exception when Cashel V Drom in a home venue for Cashel in Leahy Park.
The senior panel did not get a chance to compete in the last and final round of the championship. Cashel offered alternative dates and realistic times and gave plenty of notice for changes that could have been made. Cashel never agreed to concede the points but rather expressed how anxious they were to compete in a game that could possibly have given them a chance to compete in a County Semi-Final.
U/14 County League Final - A good and brave squad win a County Final and a great one win two. Cashel U/14’s have for the first time won two County Finals in the same year. This year they are the County Champions in both Championship and League. Well done to the girls who have done themselves, the club, their parents and families proud.
On Saturday, September 29th Cashel faced up to Clonoulty in the County League Final in Boherlahan. Right from the throw-in Cashel were on their toes score two unanswered points in the opening ten minutes. Clonoulty then scored a point from a free and came more into the game. A resolute Cashel defence held solid until half time keeping the scoreline to the minimum at the break 0.2 to 0.1.
On resumption Clonoulty were first out of the blocks and raced into the lead by virtue of a goal from a penalty and two points from frees, but Cashel resopnded immediately upping the tempo and scored 1-2 without reply. In the space of the next five minutes Cashel scored a further goal and a point. In the closing stages Cashel scored a further point leaving Cashel 2.6 to Clonoulty 1.3 at the final whistle. The scorers were Lilian Kelly, 2-0 Orla O’Dwyer, 0-4 Aine O’Dwyer, 0-1 Elise O’Connor, 0-1.
Congratulations to the backroom team of John Quinlan, Noel Murphy, Michael Moloney, Dave Moloney and all other members of the club for their commitment and hard work in preparing this panel for all their matches. A big thank you to all the parents for their support, bringing the players to the training sessions and supporting the matches.
Many thanks to Cashel King Cormacs for the use of the field for Training sessions and match days ,and for helping out with all different events which took place during the year.
A presentation evening will take place in the next couple of weeks when both sets of medals will be proudly presented.
