North Tipperary Sports Partnership in association with the HSE are offering a SafeTALK Suicide Alertness for Everyone worhshop on Thursday January 16th. From 3.30 pm to 8pm in the Anner Hotel, Thurles. The workshop will provide basic and practical help to persons with thoughts of suicide. Mid Tipperary GAA History

Patrons can purchase any of the three Volume’s of the Mid Tipperary GAA History covering the period 1884 to 2007 for just €10. Copies can be purchased at Lár na Páirce, Thurles and also at Bookworm in Thurles.

Scór na nÓg

Reminding all clubs  that the County Scór na nÓg Tráth na gCeist will take place  in Moyne Hall on Saturday 18thJanuary. Teams of Four will take part in a table Quiz so there will be no individual rounds .The winners will go forward to a novel all Ireland event and represent Tipperary in Castlebar Co.Mayo in March 2014.Please Contact Máire De Búrca Rúnaí Scór (087)2160430 before 13th January.

All-County Table Quiz

Following the success of last years event,Tipperary County Board will host the 2014 All-County Table Quiz on Friday, February 21st. Once again, 80 general knowledge questions will be asked live on Tipp FM and every club will be expected to organize a venue and participate in the Quiz. The winners from each venue will go forward to a County Final to be held in The Dome on Friday March 15th.

Charity Fun Run

The Charity Fun Run on December 21st was a tremendous success despite the atrocious weather. Almost 1,000 people participated and over €20,000 was collected on the day. This figure is expected to increase when all the money pledged is handed in. The proceeds will be divided between the two Cancer related charities, The Friends of St. Luke’s, Rathgar, Dublin and Suir Haven Thurles which is a support unit run by North Tipperary Hospice. The driving motivation behind the event was the illness to Eddie Connolly, Loughmore and his presence on the day was an inspiration to all who took part.

& Spirituality

St Patrick’s College, Thurles are holding a Conference in the College on January 24th & January 25th 2014 called Exploring The Link Between Sport & Spirituality. The Conference will commence on Friday evening January 24th with Registration at 7pm. This will be followed by the first Public Lecture at 7.30 pm by Dr Nick Watson entitled Can Sport Build Character? Exploring Faith, Love and Big Hits in the World of Sport. This will be followed by a Wine Reception at 8.30 pm. On Saturday January 25th Registration will take place at 9am followed by refreshments. The guest speakers on Saturday are: Dr. Kevin O’Gorman (Lecturer in Moral Theology at Saint Patrick’s College, Maynooth), Dr. Nick Watson (Senior Lecturer in Sport, Culture and Religion at York St John University, UK), Dr. Mark Nesti (Former first team counselling sport psychologist at Bolton Wanderers 2003-2007, Newcastle United 2007-08 and Hull City 2008-09), Rev. John Boyers (Current Chaplain to Manchester United Football Club), Dr. Eamon O’Shea (Senior Lecturer in the Department of Economics at NUI, Galway and current manager of the Tipperary Senior Hurling team).

Eamon O’Shea, Tipperary senior hurling manager, will give a talk on preparing players for the big day . This should be of huge interest to all managers, coaches and selectors who are involved in preparing teams and indeed will be very interesting to all involved in the sport.
