Senior match - Tipperary 2-15 Kilkenny 1-15: After their tremendous win against Clare last week Tipperary went into this match with great self belief which was evident as Tipperary tore into kilkenny and ran them ragged in the first 15 minutes of play with Tipp’s Siobhan McGrath, captain Joanne Ryan and Alice fogarty scoring points from play.

In the fifth minute Tipp had the ball in the Kilkenny net, but it was disallowed by the umpires.

Alice Fogarty had a great goal chance two minutes later, but the Kilkenny goalie managed to turn it away for a fourty five which Nicole Walshe converted.

Kilkenny finaly got on the score sheet with a fine point, but Tipp’s Alice Fogarty replied with a great point.

Kilkenny wre under severe pressure and conceded two quick fourty fives which Nicole Walshe converted.

Kilkenny started to come into the match and converted three frees before Tipperary added further points by Cait Devane and Jill Horan.

Tipperary went in at halftime leading 0-10 to 0-7 and were probably dissapointed they were not further ahead.

Kilkenny started the second half guns blazing and scored a handpassed goal in the first minute then two quick points before Nicole walshe replied with two frees.

Kilkenny wre dominating at this stage and went three points up before Tipperary made changes with Sarah Fryday, Michela Graham and Noreen Flanagan coming on to inject some pace into the Tipp game.

This was a turning point in the match as Sarah Fryday and Alice fogarty pointed for Tipp with Nicole Walshe scoring a free and with only five minutes to go their was only three points seperating the teams.

Tipperary’s Sarah Fryday was causing the Kilkenny defence all kinds of trouble and made a briliant run drawing the Kilkenny defence only to offload to Michela Graham to score a fine goal.

Tipp went for a winning score and wre rewarded with a great goal by Noreen Flanagan to give Tipperary a three-point win.

Tipperary intermediates 0-12 Kilkenny 1-8:

A very good win for Tipperary intermediates in this match which preceded the senior game in Nowlan Park.

Tipperary were much the better team in the first half and dominated the match with Aoife Shinnors’ brilliant free taking and points by Aoife McGrath and Elaine Murphy giving Tipp a three-point lead at halftime.

Tipp and Kilkenny exchanged points with Brid Quinn and Aoife Shinnors pointing for Tipp.

Killkenny started to put pressure on Tipperary with some well-taken points, but with full-time approaching and Tipp leading by four points a speculative lob By Kilkenny wasn’t dealt with and ended up in the net.

However Tipperary held on for 1pt win.

Newport win division one All-Ireland Feile na nGael: For the second year running a Tipperary camogie club has won the All Ireland Feile Div 1.

This is a tremoundous acheivement and the county camogie board send their heartiest congatulations to all the players, mentors, trainers and club officials on this great result.
