Tidy Towns groups in Tipperary praised for keeping towns and villages 'shining'

Tidy Towns groups showcase the positive impact of community spirit and volunteerism, says Cllr Michael Murphy

Tidy Towns group across South Tipperary will be eligible to apply for funding totalling €50,000 in 2025, a Fine Gael General Election candidate has said.
The funding from Government will allocate a total of €1.5m across the country and was announced by Fine Gael’s Heather Humphreys at this year's Tidy Towns awards ceremony.
Cllr Michael Murphy said: “Our Tidy Towns groups in South Tipperary do such wonderful work to keep our towns and villages shining, and I am delighted to see this funding in recognition of that.
“South Tipperary groups performed extremely well once again in this year’s competition, which was recognised at the awards ceremony in Croke Park.
“These groups showcase the positive impact of community spirit and volunteerism. This is evident each and every week as we see volunteers across South Tipperary out and about early in the morning and late in the evenings, doing their bit to keep their area looking its best.
“We are so lucky to have volunteers who donate their valuable time to their Tidy Towns groups, and without them South Tipperary communities would not continue to be the vibrant, sustainable places that they are.
“All groups in South Tipperary who entered the competition will be eligible to apply for a grant of between €1,000 and €4,000 for 2025.
“A huge amount of appreciation is owed to SuperValu for their continued sponsorship of the competition nationwide, and I know that this generosity is replicated by SuperValu retailers in South Tipperary communities.
“Tidy Towns groups not only keep South Tipperary shining, but also make a significant contribution to driving biodiversity initiatives, building sustainable communities, and overall aiding in achieving our climate goals.
“Fine Gael is committed to building and supporting strong communities, and this funding is further evidence of that.
“I want to congratulate groups for their successes in the 2024 competition and encourage them to apply for the 2025 funding.
“I look forward to continuing working with Tidy Towns groups in South Tipperary as they progress more and more positive initiatives to keep our towns and villages thriving and shining,” Cllr Murphy concluded.
