Students from Clare, Kerry, Limerick and Tipperary who obtained a Distinction (90-100%) in Junior Cycle Business Studies 2022 were presented with Certificates of Achievement from the Kemmy Business School, University of Limerick recently.
The event, held in association with the Business Studies Teachers’ Association of Ireland (BSTAI), celebrates and recognises excellence in Junior Cycle Business Studies.
At the first in-person awards ceremony since 2019, students representing 64 secondary schools were recognised, with parents, families, guardians, business studies teachers and school principals in attendance.
Professor Philip O’Regan, Former Dean, Kemmy Business School said:
“I congratulate all on their wonderful achievement and would also like to pay tribute to the commitment and dedication of their teachers in helping the students achieve such excellence”.
This year’s guest speaker was Catriona O’Halloran, graduate of the BA International Studies.
She said the student's achievements were even more impressive beause of the challege the pandemic presented.
“The last few years with the pandemic have not been easy.
“You not only overcame any challenges thrown your way, you triumphed and excelled and sit here tonight having achieved the top grades in Business Studies.
“It is a fantastic achievement that you should be very proud of."
“In the next few years, you are going to experience a lot of changes.
“You are going to have some big decisions to make but embrace the change and find ways to enjoy it.
“Follow what you are passionate about, do it with good intentions, and you will always find the right path.”
Chloe Keane, Chairperson, Limerick/Clare Branch of the BSTAI thanked the Kemmy Business School for organising the event.
She also thanked the teachers who supported their students behind the scenes and in front of the class, which led in part to their achievement.
