An injured hiker was rescued from the Galtee Mountains yesterday (Sunday, May 14) afternoon.

The woman was with a group hiking on the north face of Galteemore when she fell and suffered an injury that meant she was unable to make it down from the mountainside without help.

South Eastern Mountain Rescue team members, who were winding down from a day of training in the Galtees, responded to the alert to go to the walker's aid around 4pm yesterday.

The casualty was treated by the SEMRA team doctor, who was the first to reach her. She was stretchered off the mountain to the Galteemore North Car Park. All SEMRA team members involved in the rescue were off the mountainside by 6pm.
