There will be a charge of €10 for camper vans to park overnight at the Suir Island car park in Clonmel
Twelve camper van bays are to be provided at Suir Island car park in Clonmel.
District Administrator Carol Creighton has stated that the bays will be available within the next couple of weeks, and a lot of work had taken place to get this initiative up and running for the summer.
She told a meeting of Clonmel Borough District that the overnight payment of €10 could be paid at the pay and display machine at the Suir Island car park.
It would be nice to have the payment facility on an app but it wouldn’t be set up for this year.
Cllr Siobhán Ambrose, who had asked about the timeframe for the rollout of facilities for camper vans and motorhomes at the car park, said she was delighted that it would be operating soon.
This could be very lucrative for Clonmel and would be a boost for the local economy.
District Mayor Pat English said there was a need for such facilities and he welcomed the announcement.
