Clonmel Tidy Towns are in the second year of a three-year project developing an orchard in McDonagh Crescent, Old Bridge.

Next year, in year three, part of the plan was to instal a footpath to make the orchard accessible for all.

Thanks to Boston Scientific Clonmel, the plans have been fast-tracked.

One of the Clonmel Tidy Towns members, Marleen Zimmerman, put the project forward through the Boston Scientific workplace Green Team for funding.

The employee-led Green Teams present new ideas and implement projects that reduce the company’s environmental footprint globally and improve the communities in which they do business.

The application was successful, in no small part to Marleen and Boston Scientific project manager Clare Doyle.

Clonmel Tidy Towns also received funding to help support the vegetable garden on the grounds of Old St. Mary’s church.

The produce from the garden is sent to the Soup Kitchen at the bus/railway station.

Members of Clonmel Tidy Towns went to the Boston Scientific Clonmel site to visit and collect the cheque.

Thanks are extended to Clare, Tony and Marleen for welcoming Clonmel Tidy Towns members; Conor Russell, VP of Operations (missing from the photo); the Green Team for nominating the project; and to Boston Scientific Clonmel for the funding.

All of this is much appreciated by Clonmel Tidy Towns.
