A young walker was airlifted to hospital after suffering a leg injury while hiking in the Galtee Mountains on Saturday, October 14.
The South Eastern Mountain Rescue team were called out to assist the injured hiker - a youth aged in his late teens - shortly after 1pm on Saturday. He suffered the injured in the Galtee Mór area of the mountains.
A fellow walker, who is a member of Kerry Mountain Rescue, was also on the hill and assisted the casualty.
SEMRA team members assisted with the evacuation and airlift of the walker off the mountainside by the Coast Guard Helicopter R117 at around 3.20pm.
The Search & Rescue Dog Association also attended the rescue operation.
