Check out progress of the National Broadband Plan in rural south Tipperary

National Broad Ireland’s presentation to Tipperary County Council showed that fibre broadband is now installed and available to access in many parts of south Tipperary.

It is available to order or pre-order in Tipperary, Clonmel, Cashel and Carrick-on-Suir Deployment Areas (areas of about 25km in radius).

This amounts to 12,739 premises, 8,819 of which are in county Tipperary.

Work is underway on installing fibre broadband in Mullinahone DA where there is 2,856 premises with 1,662 of these in Tipperary. Projected Date for Connection is between January and May 2024.

Meanwhile, surveying work is complete in the Hollyford DA where there are 2,017 county Tipperary premises located. They are projected to be connected between January and June 2025.

The 312 Tipperary premises within county Limerick’s Hospital DA are projected to be connected between January and March next year while the 38 Tipperary premises within the west Waterford Tallow DA are due to be connected between July and September next year. The installation of the network is currently underway in both areas.

NBI is also installing the network in the north Waterford DA of Ballinamult which includes 341 Tipperary premises. Their projected connection date is between January and June 2025.

But 436 Tipperary premises in Mitchelstown DA have longer to wait. The projected date for their connection is between January and December 2026.

Broadband Connection Points
Meanwhile, six south Tipperary venues have Broadband Connection Points where you can access the NBP fibre broadband.

They are Killurney Community Centre, The Apple Farm near Cahir, Ballylooby Castlegrace GAA Club, Donaskeigh Community Centre, Moyglass Community Hall and Rossmore Community Hall.

And fibre broadband is on course to be rolled-out to all the following south Tipperary primary schools by the end of this year: Gaelscoil Charraig na Siúire, Newtown Upper NS, Killurney NS, Poulacapple NS, Rathkeevin NS, Cahir’s SN Mhuire na mBraithre, Clogheen NS, Moyglass NS, Mount Bruis NS, Monard NS, St Brigid’s NS in Donaskeigh, Rossmore NS.
