South Eastern Mountain Rescue Association members and their vehicles made a hasty exit from Cahir’s St Patrick’s Day Parade on Sunday to rescue a female walker who suffered a leg injury in the Comeragh Mountains near Rathgormack.
The hiker, who was with a group, suffered the lower leg injury on the Knockanaffrin Ridge of the Comeraghs.
SEMRA received the call out to the rescue mission at 12.24pm on St Patrick’s Day. Rescue team members accessed the ridge from Lough Mohra.
A SEMRA spoksperson said the walking group accompanying the injured walker were well-equipped and kept her warm in a kisu storm shelter until their members arrived.
After being assessed by the team doctor, the casualty was stretchered off the mountainside and transported in a SEMRA Land Rover to a waiting ambulance just after 3.20pm.
