Tipperary senior footballer Cliona O’Dwyer is part of a group of 50 Gaelic footballers fundraising and helping Self Help Africa (in partnership with the Gaelic Players Association) to plant over one million trees in Africa, through the Plant the Planet Games taking place in Kenya in November this year. Their efforts will help to build more sustainable lives for families there.

Cliona visited Disability Services provider Resilience Healthcare at their new residential facility in Dundrum where she was presented with a cheque towards her current fundraising campaign.

Cliona said; ‘I am delighted to be able to support the valuable work of Self Help Africa. The plans are coming together and the 50 players from across the country meet regularly on Zoom and we are looking forward to reaching our ambitious goal of raising €500,000 and playing in the unique ‘Plant the Planet’ Games in November.

Resilience Health Commercial Director Ed O’Brien said they were delighted to support such an initiative that will lead to a very positive impact for families who can create livelihoods from the trees planet.
