Revealed: Major supermarket supported Tipperary suppliers handsomely in 2023

In 2023, ALDI sourced €123.5 million of locally produced food and drink from Tipperary based suppliers.

This news comes from ALDI's Economic Impact Report.

ALDI partners with 13 Tipperary producers, including long-term relationship with Glenpatrick.

Last year, ALDI began working with two new Tipperary suppliers for the first time, offering opportunities for local companies to stock their produce on the shelves of one of Ireland’s leading retailers.

ALDI’s stores support multiple charities across Tipperary at a local level.

Each store is part of ALDI’s food waste reduction programme, with ALDI’s Tipperary stores having donated almost 180,000 meals through FoodCloud to local charities.

Each store is also part of ALDI’s Community Grants network, with Autism Assistance Dogs and Deise Animal Sanctuary some of the many local charities that benefitted from the programme in recent years.

In addition to donating to local charities, ALDI also supports local communities through its tree planting initiative, with a commitment to planting 1 million native Irish woodland trees across Ireland by 2025.

Colin Breslin, Managing Director Buying & Services, ALDI Ireland said: “ALDI is committed to making a positive impact across the country. We continue to make a significant contribution in every local community that we serve and are proud to be a leading contributor to Tipperary’s economy.”

“As the ALDI network continues to expand across Ireland, opening six new stores in 2023, we take pride in the work we do alongside our local suppliers to bring high quality and affordable products to our customers. We remain committed to being the best value supermarket in Ireland,” he said.

“ALDI remains acutely conscious of the economic challenges that our suppliers have endured in the past year. This is why we continue to invest in valued partnerships that allow both our suppliers and our team to grow. In 2023, we spent €123.5 million sourcing locally produced food and drinks from Tipperary suppliers. We are delighted to continue working with Tipperary suppliers and expanding our Tipperary based community in the upcoming year,” he added.
