Jim of the MIlls pub in Upperchurch has been named the Best Pub in Ireland by the Barfly column in The Irish Times.
Dubbed the best based on “readership and social sharing, from 51 pubs, in 19 counties reviewed, the pub with only one beer tap which opens only on Thursday nights, but has live music and a homely feel, has been drawing in locals and visitors alike for many years”.
The Times passionate review of the pub goes so far as calling this the “best pub in the world” and the “beating heart of Ireland.”
Jim O’ the Mill opens only on Thursday nights with a trad session from 9pm, including fiddles, boxes and bodhráns brought along by the locals, and of course singing of the highest quality.
Run by Jim and Kay Ryan and their five daughters, the pub is built into a flag-stoned kitchen with a gigantic open fire helping to bring the place to life. Put a visit on your bucket list for 2016. You'll be very welcome in The Mill.
