Along the N24, the hubs will be located at Bennetts SuperValu in Tipperary Town, Supermacs in Clonmel, Woodview Service Station in Cahir, and Ballylynch Service Station in Carrick-on-Suir.
On the N52, a single hub will be installed at Farrells Inver, Gortlandroe, Nenagh. Meanwhile, the N62 will see new facilities at Circle K Express, Templemore, Horse & Jockey Car Sales, and Bernies SuperValu in Roscrea.
The funding is available to a broad range of enterprise owners, including petrol and service station operators, hotels, car park owners, supermarkets, and other retail outlets with publicly accessible sites. Applications will be considered through a competitive grant process.
According to the Society of the Irish Motor Industry, there are currently 432 electric vehicles registered in County Tipperary, up from 206 at the same time last year. Projections based on national targets suggest this number could rise to around 3,000 by 2030 if the county maintains its share of Ireland’s growing electric vehicle market.
The expansion of charging infrastructure aims to support this anticipated growth and improve accessibility to electric vehicle charging outside urban centres.
