The Roscrea Men’s Shed footpath cleaning program will recommence in the town on Sunday 24th January 2016.
When initially started in late Autumn 2015, the program proved to be a huge success and very much welcomed by the people of our great little town. Now the objective is to not just clean the footpaths of the debris of modern urban living, but to instill in the population a sense of pride and wellbeing. This can be achieved through our various commitments and interactions with the many groups involved in making Roscrea and environs a beacon of hope in the Midlands.
Many may feel this is unattainable and even foolhardy, yet with all the programs we as volunteers engage in, this one program is a highly visible instance of such a worthwhile goal.
A short time into the footpath cleaning a locally owned business (Bernie’s Supervalu) purchased new hi-viz weather hardy jackets for our members. This totalled into the hundreds of euro, thus enabling our members to work in less favourable weather conditions.
The next step with this program is the much anticipated inter-cooperation between ourselves and Roscrea Tidy Towns to better develop and enhance the towns Fortunes in the National competition.
We hope to see more of the community join in and are always happy to stop for a chat and answer any questions people may have about the Shed and our activities, which are all voluntary. Over the next 6 to 8 weeks we will be making a number of important and interesting announcements. These will all benefit the town and its communities and groups in varying ways.
