Tipperary villages get CCTV funding for motorway junctions

Crime

Littleton, Birdhill and Burgess are to get CCTV coverage on their motorway junctions.

The move was announced this Monday by Minister for the Environment, Alan Kelly.

The €80,000 funding for the pilot scheme is on top of €50,000 already provided for CCTV in Dunmore, County Laois in 2015.

“In relation to Birdhill, Burgess and Littleton, my Department and myself have been working very closely with An Garda Síochána and Tipperary County Council and I am pleased that CCTV projects in these areas will be brought forward over the coming months in Birdhill, Burgess and Littleton. As Minister with responsibility for Community and Local Government, I am committed to tackling issues and challenges facing rural and urban communities. This includes the issue of rural crime,” said Minister Kelly.
