Last month Loughmore Cottage and Tearoom received the fantastic news that they had been shortlisted as one of six finalists in the nationwide “Get Involved” competition which aims to reward local communities for playing an active role in shaping their own future.
In connection with the Get Involved competition a special Community Impact Prize category is also being sponsored by social investment fund Clann Credo who provides support and loans to community organisations, charities and social enterprises. Since 1996 over €75 million has been invested by the fund in the community and voluntary sector across Ireland.
“We are thrilled to have made it this far and we hope we can get everyone in the local community, nearby towns, visitors from overseas and our Diaspora together to lend their support once more and vote for us in the Clann Credo Community Impact competition. We have achieved a lot in the last five years and our ambition is to keep growing the Cottage and keep the community spirit alive for years to come,” says Cofounder of Loughmore Community Coop Mary Fogarty.
The Clann Credo “Community Impact Prize” category has now been opened out to an online vote. This will allow communities celebrate their success and communicate the great things their projects are achieving locally. Members of the local community are encouraged to get behind their local shortlisted project by sharing information about the online voting on social media (Facebook, Twitter) and through their other local networks (GAA, parish newsletter, PPN network etc.).
