Major redevelopment at Waller's Lot

Applegreen withdraw appeal against Topaz plans

The path has been cleared for a major redevelopment of the Topaz Service Station in Cashel, as rival group Applegreen Motorway Service Areas Ltd has withdrawn their objections to the project.

Topaz Energy Limited lodged plans with Tipperary Co. Council for the redevelopment and extension of the existing Motorway Service area in Waller's Lot, including realignment of an access road, new children's play area, and re-arrangement of the car park, on May 26, 2015.

The Co. Council granted planning permission to Topaz for the project on October 7th last year, subject to 15 conditions.

Applegate subsequently lodged their appeal with An Bord Pleanála on November 3rd. This appeal has now been withdrawn, (on April 7th).

The entire development will consist of the “re-development and extension of the existing Topaz Motorway Services Area at Junction 8 on the M8 Motorway to provide the following: A single storey 90.3 sqm extension to the existing service station building to incorporate 24hr public toilet & shower facilities and a new storeroom. A single storey 66.5 sqm extension to the existing McDonalds restaurant building to incorporate new seating areas.

“The realignment and raising of an existing access road. The relocation of the existing car wash facility. Relocation of the existing HGV fuel pump islands. A new children's play area and refuse areas. The rearrangement of existing car parking and the provision of new parking areas to incorporate 86 parking spaces, six bicycle stands, eight motorbike parking spaces, eight coach parking spaces and 20 HGV parking spaces.”
