The pupils and members of the parents association at Gaelscoil Tiobraid Arann were delighted to present a cheque for €700 to Denise Flynn, Director of Nursing at Cluain Arann Welfare Home, Tipperary town.
The proceeds came from a Coffee Morning on March 10th and the pupil's Cake Sale on March 11th and the money will go towards furnishings and fittings in the family room at Cluain Arann.
Cluain Arann Welfare Home is located in a residential area in the centre of Tipperary Town and consists of a thirty-bed residential and community nursing unit, which is fully registered with HIQA ensuring compliance with the standards and procedures. There are 20 resident beds for long-term care and a 10-bedded Nursing unit that provides short-term care for respite, convalescent and palliative care patients. “There are two dedicated hospice rooms providing end-of-life care in a homely and caring environment,” explained Director of Nursing Denise Flynn. “We work as part of a multi-disciplinary team including the South Tipperary Hospice Movement and the Palliative Care Consultant Professor Wall in Waterford. We also have a family room that consists of kitchen lounge area and TV area and there is also overnight accommodation provided for families who wish to stay with their loved ones at this time. We are so delighted to receive this cheque from the Gaelscoil Tiobraid Arann and this money will go towards furnishings and fittings in the family room and we’re already making plans for a second family room in the near future,” added Director of Nursing Denis Flynn.
The Parents Committee at the Gaelscoil Tiobraid Arann wish to thank all the pupils and parents who helped to raise money for this very worthy local cause.
