Roscrea Beaver Camp, Srahan April '16
X

On Friday 29th April, all of the Roscrea Beavers and Durrow beavers went up to Srahan for an overnight camp out.
This was to prepare for our annual camp (Jamoige ) in Limerick in June.
We left Roscrea and got to Srahan by car. We put our bags and sleeping bags into our tents. The girls were all together and I slept beside Lucy and Abi. For dinner we had a BBQ and I ate a burger. After dinner Jungle Dave came and we got to see a snake, tarantula, snapping turtle and the 5th most dangerous scorpion in the world and other friends he brought along.
My sister Alison was scared! We could hold some of them too. I held a python snake, a tarantula and a crocodile but it couldn’t bike me because it had tape around its mouth. We also sang songs and ate sweets around the campfire and after that we went on a night hike.
Eventually we got to bed and we stayed up very late chatting and at midnight we had a secret “Midnight Feast”. I loved that part ! We woke up when it got bright. It was very early and I don’t think the leaders were too happy ! We got changed and had breakfast. We packed up our gear and our day packs for the hike.
All of us went for a hike over the top of “Ard Eireann”. It was very cold on the top but there was a great view as you could see Roscrea, Offaly and Laois. Some beavers went back down and the rest of us did a 10 k hike.
After the hike we had sausages and a drink and changed from wet clothes to dry clothes. We got lifts back to Roscrea.
I was very tired but I had a great camp. Thanks to all the leaders who helped us.
