The much anticipated Roscrea Credit Union Spring Cash Draw took place recently. M.C for the evening was the Manager of Roscrea Credit Union, Brian King. Brian thanked all those in attendance for their support of the draw and their support of their local credit union. Brian took some time to reflect on the Credit Union and asked for three small favours from those participating in the draw. Firstly, participants should spread the word about the Draw. The more participants we have, the larger the quarterly prize fund. Secondly, Brian asked participants to be ambassadors of the Credit Union. Brian spoke about the difficulties and the challenges of the last few years and of his hopes and the hopes of the Board and staff for the Credit Union’s future. Brian said that the Credit Union hoped to be able to make some positive announcements in the near future and the credit union, like any club or organisation, is only as strong as it’s active members. Finally Brian asked participants if they intend to spend some of their cash prize over the coming days that they consider spending it locally. Brian King stated that Roscrea and the local community in general is very much dependent upon the SME sector and local retailers to create employment. Brian said that if members can support local businesses it will be much appreciated.
Also attending the draw was staff members Mary Crean, Rosaleen Ryan and Marie Carroll in addition to former Chairman Patsy Treacy and the current Chairman who is very active in the local community, Sean Hogan. Brian King thanked them all as well as local photographer PJ Wright and local video engineer Noel O’Meara. This was the first draw in the credit union’s history to be recorded and members and potential members will be able to view a video of the draw on the Roscrea Credit Union Facebook Page later in the week compliments of Noel and local credit union volunteer Eoin Shanahan.
The overall winner of the draw was Una O’Reilly who collected a cheque for €10,000.00. Other winners on the night included John Ormond (€3000), Ann & Ger Dooley (€2500), William Borland (€2500), Eileen and James Bergin (€1500), Siobhan Bríd Moloney (€1000), Joseph Walsh Snr (€1000), Josephine Carroll (€1000), Jack Hayden (€1000) & Trevor Hogan (€1000) To be in with a chance of winning you must be a member of the credit union and you must subscribe to the draw.
