Tipperary Volunteer Centre now a county wide service

Tipperary Volunteer Centre now a county wide service

Tipperary Volunteer Centre is now a county-wide service, having extended its reach into the North Tipp area.

As one of over 20 Volunteer Centres nationwide the organisation is keen to build a strong network in the north of the county, and has now employed a full-time Volunteering Development Officer in order to support this phase of developing the service.

The Centre had been hoping for this expansion for the last two years, and following consultation with local organisations got the green light to cover the whole of the county earlier this year. The newly named Tipperary Volunteer Centre has just relocated to a larger space in Chapel Lane, Cashel and plans to continue its work promoting and supporting volunteering across Tipperary.

The Centre offers free support to volunteer involved organisations, such as registered charities, not for profit organisations and community groups. This support is offered through volunteer recruitment, volunteer management training and consultancy, and one-to-one support on a host of volunteering-related topics. The Centre also offers a comprehensive Garda Vetting service for organisations and often runs training on the Garda Vetting process to ensure organisations are up to speed with legal requirements.

Tipperary Volunteer Centre is also a free service for individuals who wish to volunteer their time. Many charities and not-for-profit organisations in Tipperary are in need of new volunteers. By offering your services, even for an hour each week, these charities and organisations can be given the support they so need. Volunteers of all shapes and sizes are required, so no matter what age you are, what your skill or education level is there is an opportunity for everyone to help.

As there is such a wide variety of organisations recruiting volunteers, there are opportunities available in many areas, such as: youth work, administrative work, committee/board work, fundraising, DIY and the arts. Volunteering brings a wealth of personal benefits such as new social circle, developing new skills, gaining new work-experience and building your confidence. If you are currently out of work, volunteering can provide the link you need to go back to paid employment. And remember, no one can do everything, but everyone can do something!
