On a beautiful sunny Sunday day the annual Circle of Friends 5K family fun walk/run took place departing from Sean Treacy GAA Park.
312 adults registered and about 50 children took part in a wonderful community gathering for one of the most successful charity ventures in Tipperary town in recent years. The Circle of Friends Cancer Support Centre offers services for people going through cancer and for their friends and family who have also been impacted by cancer. Founder Jennifer Jones Hickey and her family were at the event surrounded by friends and supporters that included local clubs, organisations and the general public. There was a great buzz before the start with music entertainment by young group, The Tipperary Busking Crew.
With registration fees and donations from people who were not able to attend the walk the Circle of Friends Support Centre raised approximately €3500 on the day.
“We’d like to say a huge thank you to all our volunteers who helped out before during and after the event, to all stewards who helped out on the day and also our local businesses who provided food and refreshments,” said Founder Jennifer Jones-Hickey. “It was great to have Sean Treacy Park as our base for registration this year so thank you to Arravale Rovers and all who attended and to everyone who helped out in any way, it would not have been possible without all your help.”
The Circle of Friends Cancer Support Centre has two fundraising garden festival days coming up at Ashfield Garden with Breda and James Hayes, Lisnagal. Bansha on Saturday, June 25 and June 26 from 2 to 6m. Admission is €5.
There is also a Golf Classic for Circle of Friends organised by Golf Pro Marian on September 11, 2016.
Circle of Friends is also delighted to be the recipient charity of the 2016 Pride of Tipperary Festival.
