Fr Fintan Monahan, 47, is appointed Bishop of Killaloe

Fr Fintan Monahan, 49, chaplain at St Jarleth's College in Tuam and Tuam diocesan sectretary for the past 10 years, has been apoointed Bishop of Killaloe.

He succeeds Bishop Kieran O'Reilly, who was appoined Archbishop of Cashel and Emly some time back.

He was introduced to Ennis parishioners this Friday in the presence of the Papal Nuncio, Archbishop Charles J Brown; Archbishop O'Reilly and former Bishop of Killaloe Willie Walsh.

Bishop Monahan is from Tullamore, County Offaly, and joined the priesthood in 1991.
