From Friday 29th July to Monday 1st of August the 8th Tipperary Scout Troupe , who are based in Cashel, visited Woodstown in County Waterford as part of their annual summer camp.
The Cashel scout troupe consisted of 11 cub scouts, 1 beaver , 2 rovers scouts, 1 venture scout 13 scouts, 3 young leaders and 6 adult leaders. The camp centre in the beautiful Woodstown Strand, with the base being a purpose built Youth Centre. Scouts camped out in tents, and some others slept in the Youth Centre’s hostel.
Whilst the older members had an overnight outdoors in bivouacs set up in the nearby coastal woodland.
The scouts enjoyed woodcrafts, adventure games, water sports, including building a raft and a Sunday night bonfire and barbecue with their families.
The Cashel Scouts would like to thank Martin O’Dwyer and Paddy O’Dwyer butchers for their kind donations and also to the Cshel Lions club for their very generous donation which helped defray the costs of the weekend. The camp finished on Monday with a visit to the Viking experience in Waterford City.
