Irish Girl Guides are inviting local families to join them at a Family Fun Day they will be holding in Rockwell College next Sunday ( August 21st).
CONNECT will have something for all ages to enjoy. For children, there will be fun games, arts and crafts activities, a mini-Olympics and a treasure hunt as well as the chance to enjoy face-painting, bouncy castles and various entertainers. There will be plenty of stalls for adults to browse and refreshments will be served too. CONNECT will take place from 12-4.30pm on 21 August and everyone is invited to bring a picnic to eat on the lawn at 1pm.
Irish Girl Guides (IGG) Chief Commissioner Helen Concannon says CONNECT will be an opportunity for members of the local community to enjoy a fun day out while meeting Guide leaders and their families from around the country who are looking forward to getting to know the site of next year’s international camp. “We hold an international camp every five years to which we invite Guides from all over the world,” says Helen. “We choose a different location each time and we always look forward to connecting with the local community before and during the camp. It’s great for local businesses too, of course!”
Camp Chief Jenny Gannon says Rockwell College was chosen because of its acres of space for outdoor camping and its superb facilities, which will give Guides the opportunity to take part in a wide range of activities. “We will have up to 1,500 Guides (age 10-16) camping for the week starting from 30 July 2017 and we want to give them a fun and memorable experience,” says Jenny. “They will love the water sports and all the many other fun activities Rockwell has to offer. During the camp they will make friends with girls from all over the world.”
