The sixth Dualla Show takes place on Sunday, August 28.
This huge event has been attracting thousands of people yearly from far and wide with its mixture of agricultural events, diesel-fueled delights and special emphasis on an affordable family day out - all set against the beautiful backdrop of the historic 18th century Ballyowen House.
This year the free children's entertainment is second to none. The "KidsZone" is bigger than ever with a secure and fully supervised area consisting of 10 totally free inflatables such as the Hip Hip Hippo Dome, Thunder Truck Obstacle Course and the Bungee Run! Throughout the day the superstars of Irish Wrestling will be entertaining kids and adults alike and feature WWE superstar Kevin Owens and Dru Onyx of Canada! This brilliant event has some of the best wrestling action on show in Ireland today and is suitable for the whole family. Free face painting will be available and there's also a play area with free toys for younger children.
The livestock section is the biggest to date with 90 cattle and sheep classes and a total pot of €18k in prize money, with four classes having first prizes of €500 cash! There are also new classes this year for Salers and Parthenaise breeds, plus a new Best Trio in Show class. In the sheep section, exhibitors will compete in ewe, lamb, hogget and ram classes with a highlight being the Champion Zwartbles.
For equestrian lovers, there will be a fantastic Dualla Show Grand Prix showjumping event running alongside all the usual SJI classes and the always popular Sportsman (amateur hunter) classes. In the horse showing section there are 18 in-hand classes (no ridden horse showing classes) including a rescue class, plus new classes for registered Connemara mares and foals. There's increased prize money across all showing classes this year.
The Tipperary Truck Show is back again. Last year saw over 200 trucks make their way to Dualla and this year looks set to top that. Two new classes are included -Best Small Fleet (2 - 5 vehicles) and Best Fleet (6+) in addition to the existing rigid, vintage (pre-1990) and custom classes.
A brand new part of the show this year is the fashion event. The theme is high-end fashion and country clothing and will take place in a large marquee showcasing styles from some of Ireland and UK's best fashion houses such as Holland and Cooper, Fairfax and Favour and South West Ten.
An adjoining "fashion village" will have stands exhibiting makeup and cosmetics, health and beauty products, jewellery and crafts.
Another new event is the "show'n'shine" VAG Carfest - a dedicated Volkswagen Audi group car show that also includes Seat, Skoda and Porsche cars. This is a great opportunity to see some of the best in highly modified cars.
And if all that wasn't enough, there will be the regular thrills of the modified tractor pulling, Andy Perry and his team of "trialstar" motorcyclists, competitive tug of war, auction, vintage machinery display, trade stands, artisan food stands and an impressive crash response re-enactment by Tipperary Emergency Services.
Last but not least, this year's dog show is expected to be the biggest to date with classes open to all canines (mutt and pedigree) and will have two judges on the day to help get through the large number of entrants.
Gates open at 11am and entry is just €10 per adult with under 16s free. See www.duallashow.ie for all the details.
