Iconic Neddys Cottage reopens in Dromineer

Ceramicist Marina Postir is bringing new life to a well-known landmark on the shores of Lough Derg.

The artist has taken a lease on Neddy's Cottage, familar to many at the entrance to Dromineer, from Tipperary County Council. Marina has turned the cottage into a workshop / studio and will use it to give classes in art for adults and children.

Marina graduated from the School of Art and Design in 2015 and was awarded an Honours Bachelor Degree in Arts and Design, specialising in ceramic. She teaches hand build techniques such as slap work, coil building, pinch pots and figurative work. These hands-on courses are suitable for all levels. Her motto is that everybody is able to make some nice work.

The workshop /studio was opened by Cllr Phyll Bugler, Cathaoirleach of Nenagh Municipal District Council.

She welcomed the fact that Neddy’s Cottage was again in use saying “Neddy’s Cottage has been a landmark in Dromineer for many years and is very important in terms of the history and culture of the area. It is wonderful to see it being put to use and I wish Marina every success with her endeavours”. The reopening of the cottage has also been welcomed by Tipperary County Council. Booking for classes is essential. Marina can be contacted on 086-2264303 (preferably by text because of limited mobile coverage) or by calling in to Neddy’s Cottage for bookings and information.
