Tipperary's Cllr Bonfield welcomes Newport works

News that Tipperary County Council have secured funding from the Department of Transport 2016 Severe Storm Damage fund for verge restoration and repair works at Grange Road Ballina has been welcomed by Cllr Fiona Bonfield and Deputy Alan Kelly.

Cllr Bonfield said that the area was badly affected last November due to severe flooding, but that, following numberous consulation meetings, area engineer Peter Fee worked hard on the funding application.

A plan been drawn up by the council and the temporary surface will be replaced with a high quality streetscape that will enhance this section of Grange Road, said Cllr Bonfield. The plan will provide a safety walking facility on that side of Grange Road and safe access to residents and other properties.

It will minimise the impact of any further flooding in this area by improving the drainage system and will discourage unregulated parking here and will improve the visual experience for residents and road users by creating a high quality and attractive finish.

“This is very good news for residents, businesses and the local school,” said Cllr Bonfield.
