Five year old Alex Butler from Killenaule is a very special young boy who has suffered so much in his short but traumatic young life.
Alex has severe quadriplegic cerebral Palsy, uncontrolled epilepsy, severe sleep apnoea, Iarangomalicia and if that’s not enough his parents Margaret and Michael have been informed Alex’s eyesight has deteriorated to just seeing shadows and lights.
Alex has spent long stays in hospital and missed all of last Christmas having treatments due to severe prolonged seizures.
Alex who has a twin brother Adam and three other siblings - Dillon ; 15yrs, Caoimhe ;12yrs and Megan 7yrs.
His mum Margaret wrote to Thurles man Shay Kinsella who set up Share a Dream some 25yrs ago and who to date have worked with some 24,500 children to see if Share a Dream could give Alex and the family a special treat.
“We would love to spend some quality time together as a family because it can be so difficult trying to get away with the demands on our lifes”, said Margaret.
So on Monday next 26th September, Alex and his entire family are going to the Radisson Blu Hotel, Cork for 4 days to enjoy all of what the beautiful 4 star Radisson Blu has to offer.
While Animal Fan Alex heads off to visit Fota Wildlife with the rest of his family, mum Margaret will take some time out at the Radisson Spa.
“It was a pleasure meeting Alex, his mum Margaret and Dad Michael and we are delighted to be able to organise a well earned break in Cork with the wonderful support of the Radisson Blu hotel for the Butler family,”said Shay
Shay is fulfilling his life-long dream of building somewhere really special for thousands of children just like Alex and his siblings to play together. Dreamland is the first all inclusive and accessible fun centre where no child will feel different and where we look for ability not disability.
