A Cashel company which produces rapeseed-based cooking oil has won a prestigious honour at the Local Enterprise Village Awards.
The achievements of small businesses were put in the spotlight by the Local Enterprise Offices at the National Ploughing Championships today as the winners of the first-ever Local Enterprise Village Awards were presented by the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Ms. Mary Mitchell O’ Connor T.D.
Organised by the Local Enterprise Offices and judged by Enterprise Ireland, the six winners of the inaugural Local Enterprise Village Awards included small businesses and start-ups from across the country.
The ‘Visual Display’ award, which was judged separately by Guest Adjudicator and Journalist, Mairead Lavery, was won by Emerald Oils, based in Ballygerald East, New Inn, Cashel.
The oil is produced by Michael Corbett and his family, “who are proud that they are the third generation of Corbetts to farm this land in lush Tipperary meadows.”
“Every single stage in creating Emerald Rapeseed Oil is completed from start to finish directly down on the Corbett farm. The best rapeseed oils, just like the finest wines embody the very soul of the land and the care of the producer.
“For the Corbetts, it's a fruit of their holistic vision and proof that doing it all equals doing it right.”
