Tipp represented at Belfast peace event

The Hon. Secretary of Tipperary Peace Convention, Martin Quinn, was one of the guest speakers at the Global Peace Leadership Conference which took place in Queen's University Belfast .

The conference was organised by the Global Peace Foundation, in partnership with Co-operation Ireland and the Senator George J Mitchell Institute for Global Peace, Security and Justice at Queens University Belfast.

Martin Quinn of Tipperary Peace Convention delivered a presentation called 'The Tipperary Experience', which outlined the role that the Convention has played for over 30 years in promoting peace and reconciliation. Martin outlined the reasons for the setting up of the Convention and the history of the song "It's a long way to Tipperary", and explained how the organisation was now recognised world wide through the awarding annually of the Tipperary International Peace Award.

At the conclusion of the conference Martin Quinn had to opportunity to speak about the work of Tipperary Peace Convention with Northern Ireland Junior Executive Ministers, Alastair Ross and Megan Fearon, who had both attended the closing sessions.
