It has always been a dream of Peggy Kirby's to win the Thurles Musical Society Golf Classic, and Saturday last, her dream came through.
Accompanied by Pauline Byrne, Lil Leahy and Mairead Clohessy, they tore up the course to lead the field into the clubhouse and when the prizes were given out on Saturday night, before the customary singsong, Peggy was beaming.
A great day of golf and a wonderful social evening afterwards capped a very satisfactory event with 36 teams participating on a good, dry, if a little blustery, outing. The course was in immaculate condition and all who took part really enjoyed the facilities and the buzz created in Thurles Golf Club.
A special thanks to Michael Jewellers and Sinead Ni Riain who were the main sponsor, and main spotprize sponsor respectively. Thanks also to all the other sponsors of tee boxes etc. to all the teams who participated and to our organising committee and helpers led by Frank Tuohy and Linda Ryan for their great work.
TMS Chairman Jack Gleeson was on hand to present the prizes on the night alongside Michael Carew of Michael's Jewellers before our chorus swung into action with a few well known numbers, followed by Dixie Byrne and others who provided the entertainment. A great night was had by all.
