Riverside land could be used as activities centre

Land currently owned by Cahir Scouts, and adjacent to the community centre, would be an ideal location for a river activities centre in the town.

That was the suggestion made by Cllr. Marie Murphy at a meeting of Clonmel Borough District.

She said the scouts den was located on this site but it wasn't suitable and they were looking for a site for a new den.

Cllr. Murphy said that a river activities centre would have a lot of tourism potential.

Director of Services Sinead Carr said this would have to be done on a collaborative basis with all parties.

The meeting heard that the Borough District would examine the history of the site and engage with Cahir Scouts "to allow a considered approach to be taken on this plot of ground".
