Fianna Fail leader Micheal Martin has praised the energy and leadership of newly elected Tipperary TD Jackie Cahill as he went on a whistle stop tour of the south of the constituency opening offices in Cahir, Carrick-on-Suir, Clonmel and Tipperary town.
Speaking to The Tipperary Star, Mr Martin said he was hugely impressed with the work Deputy Cahill has undertaken in such a short timeframe, especially in helping to unify the party and mobilise the troops. And, he revealed that the next target for Fianna Fail will be to win a second seat in the Tipperary constituency.

However, asked about the rumoured return of former leader Bertie Aherne to the fold, Mr Martin said that he could not see it happening. The news had come 'like a bold out the blue' he said, adding that Mr Aherne had effectively retired from politics.
