Reuse Month

October was a very busy month for Zero Waste Cashel with plenty of events held to promote Reuse Month. From furniture upcycling, bicycle repair and children’s artistic recycling workshops to a Green Business Seminar, Baby Market and ‘Toys and Tools Swap and Sell’ there was something for everyone and all ages. The people of Cashel and surrounds really embraced the initiative which encouraged them to repurpose, refurbish, donate, sell or repair old items giving them a new lease of life and adding value. Thanks to the Southern Region Waste Office, Tipperary Co. Council, Green Business and the EPA for their support through the month.

Cooking Demo in aid of Cashel Playground

While October has passed there is still one more event to go. On Friday 17th November in Halla Na Feile, Cashel there is a Cooking Demo with celebrity chef, Kevin Dundon in aid of Cashel Playground Development.

This demo will focus on entertaining made easy and creative ways to use leftovers. This event is supported by Tipperary County Council as part of Reuse Month and Morrisey’s Supervalu, Cashel. Kevin Dundon has very kindly donated a fabulous prize of a Day at his Cookery School in Dunbrody, this great prize will be raffled off on the night along with a host of other great prizes.

A number of local food producers will also be present on the night The event starts at 7pm with a Prosecco Reception and artisan food stalls and the Cooking Demo starts at 8pm. Tickets cost €20 and are available to buy in Supervalu, in the Zero Waste Cashel office at 67 Main St. or from any Playground Development Group committee member.

Stop Food Waste and Composting

In November and December we also plan to roll out a Stop Food Waste Challenge and a Master Composter Training programme. Following the Green Business Seminar the EPA’s Stop Food Waste team will be available to visit a limited number of food businesses to carry out free food waste assessments which will help any businesses in the food industry identify where they are losing money through food waste.
