Christmas in Tipperary: Lantern Parade lights up Cloughjordan's festivities

Cloughjordan Circus Club stilt walkers Molly O'Brien, Ellen Austin and Lucy Warmington take part in the Lantern Parade along Main Street

Hundreds of people turned out last Sunday evening in Cloughjordan for the switching on of the Christmas Tree.

Organised by Cloughjordan Community Development Committee, the gathering watched the stunning Lantern Parade from Cloughjordan Circus Club, accompanied by the Rawkestra Drummers.

The night market served hot food and home baked treats and the crowd were entertained with traditional songs and some more great drumming.

The committee thanked all volunteers whose dedication made everything run so well, Tipperary County Council for funding under the Christmas Retail Grant Scheme and all the local fundraiser efforts that allowed for the purchase of new sets of Christmas lights.

The CCDC runs the Cloughjordan Shop Local Campaign and is encouraging everyone to spend a little more closer to where they live, work and play this Christmas, supporting the businesses of your neighbours and friends.
