Tipperary Fianna Fail select sitting TD Jackie Cahill as election candidate

Jackie Cahill TD

Sitting TD Jackie Cahill was selected as Fianna Fail general election candidate at a selection convention in Thurles.

He took 535 of the available 933 votes.

Next came Michael Smith with 240; Siobhan Ambrose with 111; and Imelda Goldsboro with 47.

The party is likely to add a second candidate and former candidate Siobhan Ambrose is the front runner as she will give the team a geographical spread from her Clonmel base.

Deputy Cahill’s huge vote at convention is a ringing endorsement from the party grassroots in Tipperary.
