Cashel Community School has secured first place in two choir competitions over the last couple of weeks.
On Wednesday February 28th, the Senior Boys choir of CCS travelled to Co. Cork for the Feis Maitiu competition. They sang two songs – Riu Riu Chiu, a 16th Century Spanish piece arranged by Michael McGlynn and Poor Wayfaring Stranger, a Traditional Spiritual piece arranged by Victor C. Johnson. The boys sang very well and took home The Cash’s of Cork Perpetual Trophy, thereby retaining the award which was won by the CCS Senior Girls’ choir in 2017. On Friday the 9th of March 2018, Cashel Community School’s Senior Choir travelled to Co. Limerick for the Limerick Choral Festival’s Post-Primary Mixed Voices competition in The Redemptorist’s Church. They sang two contrasting pieces. The first was Precious Lord, Take My Hand written by Thomas A. Dorsey. The second piece the choir performed was White Winter Hymnal written by Robin Pecknold and arranged by Michaela Maher. The choir sang against schools from Connaught and Leinster. This is the CCS Senior Choir’s sixth time taking first place in this competition. Congratulations to both choirs & music teacher Ms. Liane Bradley.
