A woman has died after she was struck by a car while out walking with a child in Tipperary on Monday evening.
A woman was killed after she was struck by a car on the Old Cork Road (R639) on Monday night. The woman, aged in her 50's, was walking on the hard shoulder accompanied by a child on a bicycle when she was hit by a car travelling towards Mitchelstown.
The tragic incident occurred at 8.20pm on Monday evening on the old N8 Mitchelstown to Cahir road at Kilcoran.
The child was not injured in the incident however the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car was uninjured.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone who was travelling in the area at the time to contact them at Cahir Garda Station on 052 7445630.
Updated: (Tuesday 12, 9.32am) TIPPERARY: The Mitchelstown/Cahir Rd (R639 – Old N8) remains closed this morning between Tincurry and Kilcoran after a fatal crash yesterday.
