The Golden Jubilee of Ordination to the Priesthood of Canon Brendan Crowley P.P.  SS. Peter and Paul’s Clonmel will be celebrated at the 11.00 a.m. Mass in the church on Sunday 17 June.

Fr. Crowley, eldest son of Gárda  Supt.  Peter Crowley and Mrs B. Crowley  of  Dungarvan, was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop of Waterford and Lismore Michael Russell, on 16 June 1968 in St. Mary’s Dungarvan.

Born in Waterford City, he received his early education in Mount Sion CBS Waterford and other national schools as his father moved on promotion to new appointments. He has fond memories of secondary school at the Presentation Brothers in Cobh Co. Cork, where he made many lifelong friendships, before going on to St. Patrick’s College Maynooth for his priestly studies.  Supt. Crowley served in Cahir from 1967-1977.

Fr. Crowley was curate in St. Mary’s Parish Clonmel from 1981 to 1991 and many other parishes in County Waterford during his ministry.

He was Bishop’s Secretary for a time in the 1970’s.

He returned to Clonmel in July 2008 on his appointment, by Bishop William Lee, as Parish Priest of SS. Peter and Paul’s.

His parishioners wish him “Ad Multos Annos”.
